Poker – Types Of Poker Games
Poker is a family of poker games where players place wagers over which hand the latter is most likely to win in terms of the rules of the game. Poker has become so popular because it is one of the easiest games to learn and can be played in a short amount of time. In fact, it is one of the oldest games around and is often compared to the Chinese game of Go, in the sense that it also involves betting and calling. The basic rules of poker are very simple and consist of four basic hands: the Ace (also known as the Ace of Spades, the King of Clubs or the Ace of Pces), the Queen, the King and Deuce. In a game of poker all of the cards are dealt from the flop down to the deck and the two players will then choose hands and put them into the respective hands.
There are many different types of poker variants including tournaments play and community poker. Tournament play is where a poker tournament is arranged by a dealer who is generally someone from the poker community. A high quality poker game can cost a lot of money so it is not advisable for beginners to enter into this type of poker unless they have substantial experience in the game. Although the stakes are higher in this type of poker the pot odds, or number of chips you stand to lose when you fold, tend to be lower.
In a community poker game there are no individual cards but rather a group of cards that are dealt from the flop down to the deck. When a player bets, they place a bet with the dealer underwritten by what the bettor has won previously. If the bet wins the bettor will add their winnings to the pot and the dealer will deduct their losses from the pot to give the final result. There are two types of bets in a community poker game. The blind bet and the post position bet.
In stud poker games the players all stand or sit out at the same table playing against each other using the same decks. A stud is the best hand in this type of poker games. You are betting for the total amount of the pot or the amount of the opponents total chips after all the flops and hand transactions have been made. The blind bet is basically an attempt by a player to determine whether they actually have the best hand and should only be considered for the final table if you are certain you have the best hand.
In seven card stud poker the dealer will deal three decks of cards to each table and place one card on each of the two face up tables. This is also the same type of deck as used in stud but without the additional card that may come from a draw. The two cards dealt are the top two off the two decks and the remaining cards are placed in the two draw piles face up.
The last type of poker game is called Caribbean poker and is played in a pot with pre-determined amounts of chips. There is a blind pit at the front of the poker room where the players must place their chips into the pot before the flop occurs. If you are the first one to reach twenty five chips or more than anyone else has, you win the pot. This type of poker game is similar to Texas Hold’em in that there are three suits in the flop consisting of diamonds, spades, and clubs. The main difference is that there are no “houses” in Caribbean poker, so it is very hard to know what your opponent’s hand is until it is too late.
